Ford Figo: A Look Back at the 2010 India Launch
By the Bharat Auto Insights Editorial Team · Last reviewed 17 October 2026
Ford launched the Figo hatchback in India in March 2010 with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel engine. It was praised for its handling, ride quality and spacious cabin, and became one of Ford India's most successful models.
Why it stood out
The Figo was developed with India in mind and priced competitively. The diesel engine was especially popular at a time when diesel was much cheaper than petrol.
Legacy
The Figo went through later generations and spawned compact sedan and crossover versions. Ford stopped manufacturing cars for the Indian market in 2021–2022.
